Every business has a story.

Ours begins with two people who helped shape who we are long before Roberta & Bug's ever existed.

Roberta is Derek's mother. She has always been the steady voice of wisdom in our family—the person we turn to for honest advice, unwavering encouragement, and the gentle reminder to stay grounded in what truly matters. Through every challenge and every success, she has been our moral compass and one of our greatest supporters.

Bug is the lifelong nickname of my dad, Robert. An entrepreneur through and through, he spent years building and operating multiple successful businesses. He taught us that success doesn't come from waiting for opportunity—it comes from creating it. One piece of advice he shared has stayed with us ever since:

"Janet Elizabeth, You'll never get where you want to be in life by always working for someone else."

Those words planted the seed that eventually became this business.

To honor the two people who inspired us in different but equally important ways, we combined their names and created Roberta & Bug's.

We will honor my mother, Patsy, who is and has always been my very best friend and the most talented and crafty lady I have ever known by showcasing her floral designs under her business name, Pate's Florals & Gifts, where she handcrafts each and every item.

We will also honor Derek's rugged yet loving Marine Corps Dad, Randall (aka Pops) with a special section of men's items that we will affectionately call Pop's Picks. 

Today, Roberta & Bug's is more than an online store—it's an online mercantile built around craftsmanship, creativity, and community.

While we continue creating our own custom embroidered apparel, DTF prints, personalized gifts, and original designs, we've expanded our vision by carefully curating boutique-quality products from other talented makers and small businesses. We believe great products deserve to be discovered, and we're proud to give them a place alongside our own.
